About Always There

Always There was born from our very own experiences - of wanting to create something to help with quiet periods of reflection, to celebrate and remember the most important people that have influenced our lives.

We wanted to capture the voices, smiles and gestures of our loved ones, past and present. We wanted to be able to share their legacies with family and friends and even connect past and future generations.

We had photos, we had video clips, but we wanted to bring them together to create the storybook of life. Now we can remember and be reminded of the good (and tough) times whenever we need to.

So many of us have experienced the pain of losing someone close, and recent events have taught us the real importance of family. Whether you have suffered a loss, or still have your loved ones with you, together we will help create a beautiful, unique memoir that will last a lifetime and beyond. Always with us, always there.

What We Do: About

My Story

My childhood was a very happy childhood.

I was born in 1964 to the most loving parents any child could wish for. Prior to my birth, my grandmother on my mothers’ side had sadly passed away and my grandfather had moved in with my parents.

So, from day one, my grandfather became a huge part of my life. He helped my parents with babysitting, schooling, teaching me good morals and values and learning to respect others. It’s sad that I never knew my grandmother, but I benefitted greatly from my grandfather’s influence and guidance until he passed away when I was just 13 years of age. I have so many happy memories of family life; my mum and dad, my siblings and of course ‘Grampy’. Losing him when I was so young was hard, but although he passed many years ago, the memories remain. This was a very different world; no internet or mobile phones and just 3 television channels. Owning a camera allowed us to capture photographs and I treasure the very few images I have of him, but my memory remains the place I visit when I think of him.

I now have a daughter myself, and two beautiful granddaughters. My daughter has no idea who her great-grandfather was, and that’s so sad. He had such an impact on my life but literally no impact on hers. She would have loved him, and he would have loved her.

Modern technology allows us to create and capture memories to last an eternity so future generations can now learn more about their ancestors and gain a better understanding of the legacies they left to us. At Always There, we encourage families to preserve the memories we have of those most important to us, so why not start a new family tradition? Capture your unique family history and share it with loved ones still here, but also with those that are yet to become part of your family.

My daughter is not fortunate enough to have known her great-grand parents and not enough history was preserved at the time for her understand and appreciate who they were. It will be different for her children, our family will ensure that our own life stories are captured and archived for them, and the future generations we will sadly never meet.
